Whale of a time Dessert Table

I worked on this table for my nephew’s first birthday some time ago. In Korean tradition, it is called Doljanchi or Dol for short. It is a large celebration, usually with traditional Korean rice cakes, fruits and decorative pillars very much in the style of a centerpiece table. Because my brother’s family lives in Maryland, I was limited in what I could bring with me from New York. The theme was based on his invitations which was a friendly whale. Please see the cake below.

This table is mixed with candies as well as Korean rice cakes. I added some orange creamsicle candy sticks, rock candy, ribbon candy, blue twizzlers, pumpkin spice malted milk balls, shell candies, chocolate covered sunflower seeds, and the┬ábiggest hit of all the blue gummy sharks! For course, being a child’s birthday cupcakes and cake pops were in order.
